Individually tailored workshops suitable for all levels of ability and masterclass sessions.
Work with a professional artist in her studio at Making Space in Hampshire. Be inspired to experiment with new ideas by exploring a range of textile print and dye processes, including screen-print, shibori and various procion dyeing techniques.
Kathryn’s bespoke workshops encourage you to explore your own ideas by considering aspects of design such as composition, colour, pattern, texture and scale through experimentation of a range of print and dye techniques. These are relaxed sessions, work for one-to-one tuition or small groups of up to 6 people. Within the workshop there is time for discussion and flexibility of approach in relation to your level of ability (beginners right up to peer to peer masterclasses).

Guest workshops
Kathryn also runs highly successful small group workshops and courses from leading venues around the South Coast.
These include Handprinted, Making Space, West Dean, West Horsley Place and New Brewery Arts. These range from printing and dyeing to mark making, drawing and journal creation and are a relaxed and fun way to explore you individual creativity in the supportive environment of Kathryn’s workshops. These are a mixture of half day, full day or a series of sessions over several weeks.

Textile Printing with Procion Dyes Workshop at Handprinted, Bognor Regis, West Sussex

Join Kathryn for a six-week course on screen printing with Procion MX dyes. You will learn how to screen print using Procion MX dyes onto fabric. We will cover mark making, colour mixing, using resists and stencils and breakdown printing. You will also have the opportunity to work on your own projects with support from Kathryn.
This workshop is perfect for anyone with an interest in screen printing on textiles, either beginners or those who want to build upon any existing skills.
“I joined Kathryn with a friend of mine to learn the basics of screen printing. Neither of us had any experience, but both love fabrics and design. I thoroughly enjoyed my time learning about the different techniques when using dyes and inks. Using daily objects like brushes, credit cards, sponges, bottle tops etc. to create patterns. Understanding how different fabrics absorb the dyes. Once I got going I became more confident in mixing colours using my imagination and not strive for technical perfection. Kathryn is a great communicator and encourages you to give it a go. I learned a lot and had a very enjoyable day. Thank you so much Kathryn.”

At the beginning of the course experiment with different techniques and see the kind of results you can achieve with this fascinating Japanese dyeing technique.
