Sussex textile artist hits top note at Glyndebourne

Sussex textile artist Kathryn Green has teamed up with Glyndebourne Opera to offer her unique collection of wearable art to opera lovers. Kathryn, who lives near Chichester, has designed a collection of silk scarves exclusively for Glyndebourne this summer, inspired by its beautiful gardens and grounds using Shibori, a Japanese resist dyeing technique. Glyndebourne collection is available at Glyndebourne’s shop and online store. Kathryn said:

I’m delighted to be collaborating with such a special place as Glyndebourne. There is such a strong sense of passion, focus and commitment at Glyndebourne, with a fantastic buzz of creative talent and energy which, as a creative practitioner, I share and respond to. Glyndebourne sits with great serenity within its immediate landscape of beautiful gardens and grounds. There are the dynamic forms of the sculptures and structural planting complemented by the softer, more organic and flowing nature of the flower gardens, with their varied textures and glorious bursts of colour.”

Inspired by all these elements Kathryn has produced a collection to reflect the richness of Glyndebourne as she experienced it. My scarves are pieces to be worn as visual statements – or wearable art – and each design tells a deeper story.
